There are people who wants to read about me … or would like to read straight to what I do. Well, this page hopes to organize all about myself. God bless us all!
http://video48.blogspot.com/2008/02/they-started-young-6-snooky-serna.html has this to say about me:
One of the loveliest faces to grace Philippine cinema, Filipino audiences fondly remember Snooky as the adorable child superstar of the 70s who blossomed into a refreshingly beautiful teenstar joining the Regal Babies in the ’80s. Born premature on April 4, 1966 to actors Von Serna and Mila Ocampo, she was sickly, tiny and frail as an infant. But, thank God, she survived the critical years of infancy and early childhood to follow her parents’ showbiz path. At a tender age of four, she started acting via her 1970 landmark debut Wanted: Perfect Mother, where she immediately captured the hearts of Filipino audiences as a cute, sweet and smart-talking four-year old. That same year she received her first acting nomination from FAMAS as Best Child Performer for the film My Little Angel. Trained by acclaimed director and National Artist, Lino Brocka,Snooky showed promise as dramatic actress and later proved to be a fine one. In 1972, she won her first FAMAS award as Best Child Performer via the filmMahalin Mo Sana Ako.

Hi Emelda,
All the blessings you are seeing now are all from the Almighty above — wala akong puedeng ipagmalaki, as you know very well. I just never forget to pray and ask for His forgiveness. I am not a perfect person I know, but I always do my best to keep up doing a good work, not only for myself, but for others.
God bless you and your family.

Thank Yumna! I will forever do my best to be God’s instrument in this world, no matter what. I was offered by ABS-CBN a role one one new tele-serye, but had to turn it down because of a bad offer. I think GMA7 is more humane when it comes to professionalism. Then again, what else is new in this world? God will provide.

am sure you made a right decision to turned it down. you have to look at quality rather than commercialism and you should be happy with the people you are working with. i applaud you for your wiser decision.
inaabangan ko ang tv guesting mo sa sis. its not yet uploaded in the pinoy site. am living in london kasi kaya di live mapanuod.
again best of luck to all your undertakings and God bless you and your family.

I too applaud you, you deserve a good project. You are worth it and had proven to the industry na magaling kang artista. I enjoyed watching you in Habang Ka Piling ka sa GMA7 (PinoyChannel) and i hope you do get a lead role again. You were superb in that telenobela. God bless!

Thanks Yumna. Jokingly, my hubby told my manager (Leo Dominguez) and the person who informed (excitedly - Jun Lalin), “Wag naman sanang pang hospital or panggamot lang ang pupuntahan nang tanggaping nyong offer na ibabayad ng ABS-CBN (Kapamilya)! Sa hirap umarte - madaling araw pa na wala na halos disenteng tulog, baka naman medio puedeng ayus-ayusing nyo naman ang budget nila - para namang hindi nyo alam ang hirap umarte! 50k per shooting day is nothing - lalo na kung tatangalin nyo pa ang manager’s commission na 30%!” Anyway, I was with Jun Lalin last night and he shared me the Rio Locsin took the role - which is OK, siya naman talaga yung bata na gumanap noon eh and I think she would really fit it very well. By the way, the show is called, “Kambal sa Uma” or something.

Dear Chiristina H (again)!
GMA7 talaga, in fairness, really takes care of its talents and celebrities like human beings. I’d rather not talk more about ABS-CBN. Sabi nga ng hubby ko, “If there’s nothing good to say, better leave it unsaid!” Kaya OK lang naman - in fact I’m happy if Rio Locsin really did get the role and she deserves it. OK naman ako - my business (not my hubby ha?) takes care naman my daily needs so far, kaya siguro kung medio hindi attractive ang offer, medio wait muna ako dito sa tabi-tabi. I’m sure with the current global economic crisis, there are many stars who are really crying for help or projects. In my case naman kasi, I just wanted to act - pero wag naman barat-barat, di ba? Like I told my hubby, “My Art is free, but what they pay is for my time.” Okay ba?

Hi Snooky!
Is that a guest role that was offered to you? I really have a good feeling that the right project will be heading your way soon. Maybe passing the role is a good decision, lagi naman ganon eh, may dahilan lagi sa huli diba, and the outcome of it is always good most of the time. Ingat lagi and i can’t wait to see you on TV and or on the big screen.
Snooky Serna
March 27th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Passing that role is not of course only about money. It is a lead role of a mother. Rio Locsin did the young star during the original version and her taking the role, in my humble opinion, is a very good (if not best) choice. I have my hopes very high on Rio.
Of course, if you only knew how we movie talents in this industry are treated during tapings/shootings, you would understand that the glamor and beauty we show outside is pretty much a cover-up and the pain and suffering we feel inside does not compensate our inability to live a normal, happy and healthy life. Of course, kailangan naman din sila kumita - but then again, who am I to say who’s to earn or not? God’s will shall always prevail … and I will survive, like I always do (yabang no?)

Dear Snooky,
Hello..I hope that you are always in good health and condition as well as your loveones. Finally, I’m so glad that you have a personal/ business website to keep your fans updated. Just to let you know, I’m one of your avid fans since the ’80s era. I can never forget that movie kasi dun nagsimula ang pagiging fan ko sa iyo. After that, mas nagustuhan ko ang loveteam nyo ni Gabby noon (Miracle of Love), compared kay Albert (Little).
Nag try lang ako mag e-mail sa iyo after visiting your website for the 2nd time. The first time was after maibalita sa akin ng husband ko na may website ka daw kasi napanood nya ang guesting nyo ni SAM sa SIS. Knowing that I’m an avid fan of yours at alam nya na matutuwa ako, he really made sure na maibalita nya sa akin ang complete website address mo. Unfortunately kasi, at that time e nasa work ako so namiss ko yung episode na nag guest kayo ni Sam. While reading some of your other fans e-mails at nag te take time ka to reply back, nagkaron din ako ng interest na i-e-mail ka. So, hopefully you’ll also find time to read my e-mail and if not causing too much time on your part, sana maka reply ka. I will try to copy and paste this also to your yahoo e-mail address and I hope this is just the beginning of our communication and new found friendship between a star and her fan. I even tried to e-mail other columnists before just to get hold of you but to no avail…like e-mailing JUN LALIN, RICKY LO etc., na alam ko nagsusulat ng writeups about you kaya I’m so happy to finally found you here at sana you will now consider me as one of your friends.
By the way, My name is Marjorie…Marj for short, and is presently based here in Ontario, Canada with my family for over 10 yrs. We never know na baka maging way din ako para in time na kung sakaling makadalaw ka for a show or even baka magkaron ka ng future business ventures here in Canada na may naging kaibigan ka db. But for now, gusto ko lang ipaalam sa iyo na natutuwa ako na ipaalam sa iyo na I’m your fan since then and until now.
Here’s my e-mail address pala Cooks …marjvilla@yahoo.com…. sana reply ka ha. I look forward na maka receive ng e-mail from you…or kung busy ka talaga kahit na ma-acknowledge mo lang ako dito sa website mo.
Again, thank you for your time and May our Lord God continue to bless you and your family. Hope your Mom (Tita Mila), will get well soon too. Take Care.
Your loving fan,
Marj
God bless.

To my most dearest and beautiful Ms. Snooky Serna,
Have a happy and fab birthday! let me share with you a poem by karle wilson baker:
let me grow lovely, growing old-
so many fine things do;
laces, and ivory, and gold,
and silks need not be new.
and there is beauty in old trees,
old trees a glamour hold;
why may not I, as well as these,
grow lovely, growing old?
PS: may all wonderful and happy things come your way always. God bless!

My Dear Glenda! I think I would rather be myself rather than be compared with either Maricel, Dina, Vilma, Nora and of course, Mega-Sharon Cuneta. Each of us have our own lives to live and have lived it to its best. Each of us has a bit of a wonderful life’s story to share, hindi naman siguro fair sa kanila kung i-level-up mo pa ako (parang internet gaming ba?) dahil magagaling din naman talaga sila. My fellow-Regal Babies are equally living a wonderful life now - even better than mine I guess. Ate Vi has made a wonderful mark in the history of both showbiz & politics. Ate Nora naman - yes, how I would really love to have a movie with her. But who knows? All will be in God’s good graces and will.

Ooow, I felt sad naman about your having a bit of a “laid-black” birthday - as it comes only once in a year. Guess that’s U.S. of A. for you! My hubby’s a bit the same - he’s not into celebration or anything. He feels b-days are private things and he usually does it privately, starting with a day’s prayer, a visit to his barber shop, to work or go golf (whatever he feels), ending the day with a meal with the whole family. How unsalty, isn’t it? One time, he said, his friends organized a party for him, he was forced to come - but not really sort of too much enjoyed it. Like I said, he’s a very private person.

April 6th, 2009 at 10:37 am
Wow, that was a quick upload of your pictures Cookie! heheeh. Don’t be sad about me having my “laid-back” birthday celebration. I much prefer it that way and it was on a Sunday, went to church since it’s Palm Sunday the church was packed with Filipinos, i felt like i was in Manila, heheeh) and then drove to my favorite restaurant (H’s Lordship at Berkeley Marina) meet up my family there, and the view was really spectacular (sunset in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge was awesome!) we were facing the Golden Gate bridge from the window view area and it was so beautiful. Sometimes i just take things for granted due to my busy schedule (having two jobs), but it was nice to take it all in yesterday, the beautiful view, my siblings and nephews and nieces (family are very important to me), and I got a text from my mom, we do miss her, since she’s there in the Philippines for 6 months, enjoying her retirement). Had 3 glasses of wine, buti nalang i have my nephews (who are sober) to drive my car home hehehe.
Let me know if you plan to visit San Francisco, it would be my pleasure to take your family around. It’s nice to see the pictures of your celeration, sayang wala pala ang “hubby” mo, I dont blame him, ganon talaga, importante talaga ang privacy ng isang tao, without some press hounding your back and making unncessary write-ups after after.
I have to say, your two beautiful daughters looks exactly like you. I feel like i’m in the 80’s zone hehehe.
Tama na muna, need to get back to work na ulit hehehe.
Take care!

So as not to confuse my reply to your blog Allan, I corrected the word here and deleted the 2nd one you sent. How wonderful is the place where you both work and live. The fantastic views you claim to have taken things for granted and all … who knows, that could also be my problem here? There could be a lot of things that I have not seen here, I always say I’d like to be here, there and everywhere (parang song yata ng Beatles yun ah!) - yet I never took the time to really see my own. Then I again, I think I just did - when I was Channel 13’s main caster in one of our travel shows. Tell your mom to give me a call or something (I have emailed you my contact numbers right?) while she’s here in Manila. Thanks for understanding my hubby’s love for privacy and having a flaskback of the 80’s while getting a sight of my two (2) beautiful daughters … but Allan, I now have four (4) … Patricia and Hannah adding into them. Oh, you should see and listen how close they are.
One thing I’d like to say about that beautiful country is that … it stays beautiful as long as you have work to keep paying the bills. It gives pride of its people as long as you have the ability to pay for what you consume. But realistically, it one of those countries (pretty much in the Philippines) that dumps people on the street if they couldn’t possibly pay the hospital bill. Just saw a movie at “Star Movies” talking about how the “Heroes” of 911 are not treated and discuss about “USA being the richest and freest country in the world, that does not have a universal free health program.” Well, it’s pretty much the same here in the Philippines. But I guess it’s just a world of consumption to make a statement - and be heard or listened to. If your issue does not sell, nobody even wants to read it. Looke at what I wrote about my mom - it got the worst comment as compared to what I have to say in this website about me. Of course, I’m not wondering why - maybe I wrote a “too-heavy” stuff about my mom and against Makati Med. But totoo naman eh … how can you allow an old woman suffer another overdose of steroids for a second time - and get her out of it.
Now here’s new one for you Allan - a few days ago she was given a discharge by her attending physician (Dra. Divinagracia), but got sick with fever the next day. Siempre, fever = infection. Tanong bakit? Well, her doctor said, “Your in a hospital environment so you tend to get different kinds of infection.” My gosh, am I living in a different planet? Aren’t the hospitals should be the epitome of cleanliness and disinfection? I know you told me to get her out of there. Here’s the problem, my mom doesn’t listen to any doctor than this one. Her bill has piled up that (here we go again) we need to ask the family to help (one already did - my Uncle Alex - their youngest brother). I can’t always pay the bill naman … I have my daughters to work and fend for (for crying out loud!) … I can’t always approach naman my hubby, he has help enough in the past, I just can’t afford to lose him by overwhelming him with all these bills. Not that I don’t want what’s happening, but I really couldn’t find a way to accept them!
In God’s good graces, the answers will come.
Allan
April 6th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Good morning there Snooky! I believe it’s already 9:30am (6:30pm dito ng lunes). I am so sorry to hear about your mom being sick again, it’s hard to see your parents being sick, it’s heart breaking. I really suggest you get another opinion or two about your mom’s health, if possible.
I would like to apologies to you and to your 2 other daughters if had ruled them out, that was not intentional at all. I’m very sure they are very sweet and very nice like your daughters with Richard C.
My mother, which by the way is also named “Milagros” or “Mila” for short is now in our home province of Sibuyan Island, Romblon. This island is where the Princess of the Stars had sanked a year or so ago. A heartfelt tragedy at sea with alot of casualties. Not to mentioned the hardship it caused on our island’s way of life. I do hope that they remove the ship soon. My mom will be back end of April; she wants to spend time in her house there and of course see and spend time with our relatives as well. I will definitely have her in your Spa when she returns from Sibuyan island. I’m sure she will need a good massage after a long and tiring trip.
I wish i was there, i would definitely hit your spa 2x a week for a massage and facial. Although I’m really finicky about the place i getting a facial at, the only facial salon i usually go to is located in Shangrila Mall in Edsa that I really liked (I wont name the place since it would be unfair for your business) but i can’t wait to try out your salon.
Have a great day ahead! God bless!

Hi Allan! Yes, it’s really puts you both in a deppressive and anxious mood to find your mom being sent to the hospital. It’s even more depressing to see a malpractice being don on her. What could get worse? I hope not! Pero nakaka-inis na kasi eh. I’m trying to get another medical opinion, but the problem is, doctors in the Philippines are not the same in the U.S. Dito, parang may “sacred-unwritten-oath” silang mga fellow-doctors (parang mga “companero” sa mga lawyers) kaya they would never say anything against a fellow-physician!
Well, just in case she’s in Manila, let her know my number. Who knows, we might go to her place. My hubby said people in your place are very strong-willed and hard-working. One of his best peole sent overseas came from your province of Romblon. Anyway, let me know when your own “Mommy Mila” gets to Manila para naman available din ako. Lately kasi, nagdadatingan ang mga plano dati like movies, TV tapings, etc.
I don’t want to bad-mouth our SPA, but I really don’t think I can match the SPA in Shangrila Mall sa EDSA, especially sa kalinisan - dahil mall-yun. But I assure you naman … hindi kami nalalayo doon.

Thats such a good thing to hear coming from your hubby! Tell Mr. Jun thank you for that kind gesture of my kababayan of Romblon.
If I May, I would also like to get more information from Mr. Jun regarding positions for my two cousins who I and my elder brother had put to school (they graduated from PMI there). If you kindly post the link so I can email it to my cousins there in Manila so they can figure out what positions they are qualified for it would be greatly appreciated. They are both working right now, one in a call center and the other is working for a construction supply company dealing/taking orders, etc.
Yes, my beautiful mother is in Sibuyan, Romblon at this time, kaya sigurado pagod yon pag dating niya. Nahirap nga siya sa biyahe kaya i feel bad that she had to go to those ordeal just to visit “home”, i can’t blame her though, the saying is true, there’s no place like home. I had found her a personal masahista from the place I had my facial in Shangrila Mall. I was empressed by her massage skills for an hour and i had asked her if she accept home services, apparently she does, a nice lady named Joy from Davao who worked at the place i often get a facial at. Ang bait niya ang my sister and mother loved her when we invited her over to the house (they were both got spoiled by Joy). Saya nga at nawala ata ang cell niya dahil she often kept in touch with me when she was already in UAE. I hope she’s okay kung saan man siya ngayon. We are still hoping to get her number from her last employer there in Manila. My mother really liked her alot, plus it was a big plus for my mom and sister to get their massage at home. Wala ng hassel going out and have to endure the traffic and the heat.
Thanks again Snooky and to your hubby!

Hi Allan Again! My hubby can help but I’m not really sure up to what extent kasi I’m helping him on the lower than construction categories (like administrative works, hotels, restaurants and even household). He’s taking care of the skilled, highly-skilled and professional categories mostly in construction and oil & gas projects - being an engineer. He told me he always make sure that he’s got people from Romblon each time he puts up a factory (way back in the 1980s - kaya siguro di nya napapanood mga films ko - although he’s not really much of a film-buff himself) in Saudi Arabia (3 in-fact). His last stint was way back 1987. Can you please ask your counsins to email him their CVs/Resumes at cmi@i-manila.com.ph and try to visit their website: http://www.cherub.com.ph so they might find somethiing there. Although I have to admit, it’s not as updated as my website, but it’s working. They can apply on-line pero mas maganda derecho na yung emailed resume - mas detailed.
About your mom, meron din naman kaming magaling din sa SPA - but I’m not sure (here I go again) if it could match the greatness of the old SPA you’re going at Shangrila Mall. I know naman kasi magagaling ang mga yan. Kami nag-start pa lang. I’ll relay your regards to my hubby!

Hello Ms Snooky!
its a pleasure. I too love poetry. I have read from one of the articles in the paper you are writing a book “the healing heart”. When will it be publish? I am all fingers and thumbs!
I am sorry to hear about the state of health of your mom. It makes me sad my fellow collegues in the medical field are failing you and your mom. In fairness, patients are very susceptible to hospital-acquired infections especially those who are sickies and long-term. I advised, you have to be vigilant the medical people are washing their hands before and after they do any procedures to your mom, her IV cannula is clean, her medicines esp antibiotics are given on the right time, not missing doses as to prevent antibiotic-resistance. Hello Yumna! Thanks again about your wonderful poetry about me. I do have, however, a litle prolblem with my book … since I changed my phone, I seem to have lost the number of my plublisher and all I’m waiting is for her to get in touch with her (Her name is Mrs. Ucung - the publisher) and somehow I hope she never have given up on me - yet. Anyway, it’s all in God’s good graces. If she calls, then it’s meant to be, or not!
About our mom, you know naman “the” Makadi Med (now said to be owned by Manny Pangalinan of PLDT - don’t know really why & how) and in every meter you walk in that hospital, there you see a blue disinfectant advising you to “please” wash your hands before getting into anywhere - even at the emergency room. My hubby used to joke that this is the very thing he misses at Makati Med and it really makes you feel properly disinfected. My mom’s medicines are properly administered and given on time - it’s the dosage that I’m complaining about. There is this steroid that is suppose to de-coagulate her blood as she was said to have a minor heart-attack (or something). I don’t know if you have seen my article here entitled “Only in the Philippines” about my mom, she really looks so bad - with all those blotches of blood all over her body (we only showed the arms part - but Anton, my bother said she has it all over the body - back, lower lumber, et al). Now how could this happen.
As if nothing’s gonna get worse, this was already the 2nd time it happened to here. Four months ago, we also rushed her to the hospital emergency area where whe was (again) given an overdose of steroids to “supposedly” allow her to breath properly - as she was having problems of breathing that time. Anyway, in about 2~3 days later, we were shocked that she completely turned into a different person - knowing in the end that she’s had a “psychotic breakdown” - due to overdosage of steroids! Now how can these things happan, really?
I still maintain my believe, in all logic (as my hubby said), that hospitals are suppose to be the epitome of cleanliness, why in the world should you instead acquire more diseases there than prevent it? Then, why should we have to go to the hospital (and at its worse, stay there) if at the end of the day we will only acquire more sickness? No, I’m sorry my dear Yumna, I really can’t accept that.

Hi Snooky,
I chanced upon your website by chance . I have been a great believer of your talent eversince your Underage days and I am just ecstatic about your great comeback. A great actress like you deserve bigger projects. Too bad, Philippine cinema/showbiz does not give much credit to an actor`s talent —it values hype and popularity. Just looking at the new breed of actors—they cant compare to you and the other Regal babies your time.
I am also happy that your personal life is doing great. Your kids seem smart and level headed. Your blog/website also show how intelligent you are.
By the way, if you have any questions or any advice with regards to your mom`s condition, you can email me. I work as a physician here in the US.

What makes it worse, “Nobody loves a loser,” ang bukang bibig ng mga tao dito.
I have talked to a certain Dr. Nubla at Makati Med. He promised to talk to daw sa board nila about my mom’s situation. I’m no expert myself (tapos lang naman ako ng alternative medicine under Dr. Joseph de Ubaldo), but I sure know she was overdosed by steroids. Doc Don, would you mind reading my article in this website of our about my mom, “Only in the Philippines….”? An advice will surely help me a lot. Thank you for being a friend. Sorry, I’ve got to go, nandito na kasi ang crew ng Unang Hirit ng GMA7. Bukas daw kasi ang labas.

Ay naku, very close ang mga anak namin I guarantee you. I guess kasi same age sila. Bakit di tayo maging ganun (parang bata) para walang away no? Got bless you too! Got to go … tinatawag na ako ng secretary ko, taping na raw sa office ko! Bye!

Thanks Yumna. Well, they’re just indi (short for independent) films - the new fad these days in the movie industry (thanks to digital technology). It makes every artist’s price 10% than his/her real worth compared to a mainstream movie film set-up. But in these days and economic situation/global crisis, every penny counts. Many veteran artists (actos & actresses) do not look at the money anymore - but more on the art that they always wish to potray. Apparently, I’m among those veterans. God has always provided us other righteous was to earn another living and to live with dignity, but our love for the art is really difficult to leave us just like that. One way or another it gets to you. My mom’s OK. I have a 2pm meeting to day with Dr. Nubla - who is said to be a member of the board of Makati Med. I really don’t know why they wanted to see me.

Hello My Dear Christina! Thank you naman for such kind & touching words. While I tend to agree with you - it’s what I have asked my manager (Leo Dominguez) because of the other extra-duties (business-related mostly) I need to perform - notwithstanding parenthood (now 5, which used to be only 2 - including my hubby’s 3 wonderful & beautiful children). The shooting of “DUKOT” starts on April 23. I’m sure it’s going to be a great film, like I said earlier, potraying “Myrna”, a leader of an NGO-Human Rights Organization - directed by multi-awarded Joel Lamangan.
Then another one will immediately follow, “BENTE” co-starring with veteran actors & actresses like Richard Gomez, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, etc. Really another great one.
Yesterday, the producers already agreed to start the shooting this June 2009 of my starring role movie, “Familia Sagrada,” also by Direct Joel Lamangan.
Hope this answers all my dear.
Always,

Hello again Christina! About the remake of “Underage,” honestly I didn’t really get to see it - and so in all fairness, I might give a wrong impression of it. True, iba talaga ang originals - even among Western films, I kind of not really in the mood of watching remakes … parang “over” sa akin usually ang pagkakagawa. I get to learn this after seeing 2 or 3 of them. But really, thank you again for such kind words. Ingat ka din my dear sister!

Hi Venus my dear sister! Oh well, INDI is the fad nowadays, dahil nga low-budgetted and sa mga veteran artists like myself, it’s a way to express more of our art than just for the money - not that I don’t need it anymore (the money - sino bang hinde?), but surely, the big producers are more into it because what they could cash-in from the movie. They look at us now as dilapidated cars that just need to be parked at the garage. While the producers of INDI films look at us very differently, with all dignity and respect. At our age, it’s what counts most already, not much on the money - don’t you agree my dear?

Hi Snooky! Thank you for providing more information about your movies. I am excited to see it; lalo’t na ang Familia Sagrada. It sounds like a very good film, with the other movies you are doing. I also understand where you are coming from with your personal schedule and why you choose such roles due to your family and business. I (and your thousand fans would agree with me on this) really miss you on the big screen playing the main character. Pero pag may oras kana sa personal busy schedule mo with kids and business that is.
I agree, they tend to over exaggerate the remakes of such good films; kaya pag mga remake na, i really dont like to watch it myself; iba talaga ang original version.
By the way T2 (Maricel’s new movie) is showing here in San Francisco in a few weeks and my friend had bought an extra ticket ($25 per head) para samahan siya, which i don’t mind.
I will definitely will wait such chances, along of course with your thousand of fans.
Ingat ka lagi! GOD BLESS YOU!

Hi again Christina! Let’s face reality my dear - all movies depend on one and only one factor, the approval & support of producers. Some may be heartless bastards who’s thinking & prowess would only be dictated by profits, regardless how scrumpy, trashy and demeaning the artists would or should play their role, many are still artistic (listening to the good director’s suggestions, not in collusion - again in the name of profit), but not really that much monied, it’s a pair of clashing worlds - apart from each other. Familia Sagrada should really be a good film - at it is another “obra maestra” of Joel Lamangan. But as my hubby used to say, “If Joel (Lamangan) really knows that it is so good as it should be making money, why doesn’t he produce it himself?” Makes sense di ba? He further continued, “Generally speaking, people would gamble more with their own lives, rather than with their own money,” giving the reason why, even with all the bombings & killings in Iraq, there are now 60,000 of our Kababayans there, despite the existing travel ban to that country. Bottom-line, while “Familia Sagrada” could be an award-winning film project, they know it’s not going to make money - so if they don’t want to produce it, so be it. Can you imagine, 1.5M lang daw ang budget - di maka-decide ang producer? Stupid di ba? Well, probably not that stupid - it’s just a heartless, business-wide world we all live in.

Wala na talaga ang showbiz ng Pilipinas, palubog na; sorry to say this but the story lines of some movies are basicly the same, kaya wala ka pa sa gitna ng pelikula, napaka obvious na ang mangyayari. Anyway, tama rin ang tanong ng hubby mo, kung believe talaga ang director na si Joel Lamangan, why does not he put some money into producing it if he truly believes is a good film to do?

Kaya nga habang “in demand ka”, mag ipon at mag business ka, dahil sabi nga sa awit “tatanda at lilipas din ako” and once that happens, good bye showbiz life. Patience is a virtue ikaw nga. Malay natin diba?

Your opinion my dear sister Christina is very much noted and true to its word. I do not know naman kung sino pa ang makikipag-argue sa experience ko (except the great Roderic Paulate) when it comes to being into movies at such a young age - being the first (kahit si Shirley Temple - dinaya nila ang age), ako naman, I have my heads up high when I have myself auditioned and discovered by the late (and great) Lino Brocka. This I have to say, we all have our qualms about the movie industry, especially these days. Hindi lang sa mga movie stars and other supporting artists - but especially the behind the scene people like camera men, line-producers, script-writers, and many more. Every opening of our Fragrance of the Stars, I always see “Manang-Photographer” na noong maliit pa ako, lagi naman ako kinukunan - now, she’s jobless, nobody wants to take her, she’s in her 80’s, and waits until everyone finishes their meal at the Resto and brings home the “pabalot” na sobra or tira-tira. Makes one wonder, this is what you call, a glamorous world we all live in? Is so pretentious if you ask me!

My dear “Koronang Itim Fan”, I hope I could get your true name naman kapatid, kasi hindi naman tayo kabilisan mag-type and I’m doing these things while reviewing some CVs here in my hubby’s office. Tama ka rin naman sa mga points of views mo, of course, Christina’s should be equally respected because she has a piece to say, and like how I replied to her, she’s absolutely right and I agree with her completely. Thanks to my hubby, ako kung ayaw naman nila sa akin I’ve learned to say, “So what?” True, I have my own tale to tell about my “diva” days and I’m not even proud of them - until now. Then again, I know din naman na di hamak na mas grabe pa sa akin, medio nakakapit nga lang sa mas matigas na pader kaya kayang itago kung ano man gawin nila - in public or in private. My hubby, who used to frequent his golfing days at different major golf courses in Cavite, Cebu, Pampanga, et al, have heard so many celebrities (or trying to be one), showbiz personalities, movie icons and socialites na sobra kung magmura, manlait at mambastos ng kapwa Pilipino - kahit na ba mahirap. Ako naman I could proudly say, not that I’m trying to be “Ms. Congeniality” pero wala naman siguro akong nasagasaan sa mga kababayan natin. Yung mga nasa itaas lang na nakikita kong nang-aapi ng mga nasa ibaba - that’s why I really love playing the NGO roles, dahil I really hate pag naapi ang mga nasa ibaba. Thanks for blogging!

Sorry po Ka Mitch, nalagpasan kita. Yes, I listened to all 24 doctrines, although I backed-off bago ako ma-bautismohan. My hubby on the other hand was an INC until he got involved with one of the higher echelons of INC (District Minister) who got him expelled. Sabi nga niya, “I have nothing against INC, but until that District Minister gives me back what’s rightfully mine, I’ll never step on any INC ground again. I’m the victim, ako pa ang natiwalag?” I hope you will equally respect if I don’t give the details why I backed-out and why na-expelled ang hubby ko sa INC. God is truly good to all of us and I always believe that our relationship to Him is a personal matter … much as those who wanted to run my spirituality according to what and how they believe. Thank you for such kind word and if I may, me and my hubby are still in-touch with our INC friends, brothers and sisters. “In His time,” sabi nga sa song.

Naku “Koronang Itim Fan” - such kind words on your 2nd blog are really putting tears in my eyes. Marami ngang me gusto sa team namin ni Gabby no? Kaya lang I don’t think Gabby is into having another film with me - no reasons (good or bad), it’s just plain simple na siguro pareho na kaming namimili ng role & partners sa film na ino-offer sa amin. Who knows? Di mo rin masasabi kapatid, di ba? Gabby is one of the most talented artists I have worked with - even better with some of my love-team partners way back then (wag na natin i-mention ang names nila). Hi Snooky, it’s me again my beautiful idol! First and foremost, my high respect to Christina. I apologies if I had offended you ha, hindi po yon intentional, katulad nga ng sinabi ko, i do agree with Christina’s comments dahil totoo naman talaga, and Since we both admire the same person, our very own Ms. Snooky Serna.
So I’m sure Gabby has high respect of you as an actress, given na yon sa sagot niya.
Pero tulad nga ng sinabi mo, it’s the producers calls. Ka birthday mo pala Cooks ang tatay ni Gabby, the late tito Rolly Conception; kaya naman pala mukhang you have such good relationship with GC films years ago and i’m sure friends parin kayo ng family Conception. Dear Beverly, thank you for such kind words. Especially about me and Gabby. We both have high respects for each other as fellow-artists and I am glad to learn of his reply to you (”madali ako kausap”). I guess that’s why I was pushed-over many times by many people whom I thought were my friends and allies, in the end who dropped me like a hot potatoe when things are not going well with me and my life. It’s a very bad and ugly world we live is - this showbiz thing. “Nobody wants a loser,” sabi nga ng manager ko (Leo Dominguez) - and true enough, pag nasa ibaba ka, talagang kulang na lang duraan ka parang the lowest form of animal.
Back to Gabby: Gabby and I live very different lives right now. Of course I’m not saying another film with him is impossible - hindi naman sa ganun kapatid. Kaya lang wala pa talagang project - starting with a idea, script and ending with a producer. It an old process we need to follow, all bundled into one. Other than that, we just wait until God leads us the way. Ingat din kayo dyan sa SF, USA.

You are very welcome my dear Snooky! Ganon talaga sa showbiz, they will tear you apart when you are on your lowest of low. I’m not surprise with such people who had left you out of the cold. During the time when you needed a friend, duon mo talaga malalaman kung sino ang tunay at hindi; hindi narin nakapagtataka dahil maraming ganon na tao. Mabuti lang sila iyo kung may pakinabang ka, kung wala na, they treat you like a piece of trash. Sabagay, hindi lang naman yan nangyayari sa showbiz world, but also in everyday life, mapa showbiz ka man or ordinary person. But just remember Ms. Snooky that you are a survivor because no matter what challenges in life that you encounter or will encounter, this makes you a stronger and better person. Kaya ako, ayaw ko mag artista diyan; my tita Lucita Soriano kept bugging me to enter showbiz when i was in my early 20s, sabi ko sa kanya “Tita, thanks, but no thanks”, ultimo pag ihi mo inaalam nila tapos ang paninira na mga below the belt, i rather just be a regular person without having the fame and so called pilipinas showbiz around me. Wag nalang, no amount of money or fame could ever replace the peace of mind of such individual.
By the way, my tita Lucita Soriano is glad you are doing well. Kamusta daw sa iyo. Tita Lucita Soriano now resides in Sacramento, California (an hour and a half drive from San Francisco, California) and we see each other every two weeks pag sinipag ako mag drive pa Sacramento.
Best regards!

Kahit sana sa mga INDI films bigyan tayo ng pagkakataon na itambal sila muli ni Snooky, that would really be exciting isn’t it? But time will tell and in GOD’s time.
I’ve seen Ms. Lucita Soriano at Sea Food city in Sacramento (when I had visited my cousins in Sacramento) at first hindi ako makapaniwala na siya yon, but then my aunt from Sacramento had mentioned that it Ms. Soriano, and we had to check out what her foundation was all about. I believe she was asking for donations for her foundation, “Kids foundation” of some sort, benefiting the kids back in the Philippines. Which is such a great cause. Kudos to people like tita Lucita Soriano at sa mga foundation/fundraising niya!!

Hi Christina, Snooky again! About “Bente” - I will be partnered as Sen. Jinggoy Estrada’s wife. Jinggoy potrays a role of a feisty press guy - ako naman ang mabait na asawa, sa film yun of course (joke!). About Richard, I’m not sure kung sino ang partner nya. By the way, nagkamali ang hubby ko sa arrangement ng scheds ko. Bente pala will be the one that will be shot this 23rd, and “Dukot” will be shot sa may pa - then followed by “Familia Sagrada” in June.
Beinte’s other star-studded line-up will be Iza calsado, Ryan Eigenman and Glaiza de Castro - directed by Mel Chionglo.

Hi Snooky,
Good to know that your mom is doing a lot better. COPD or emphysema is a chronic condition and she needs to take maintenance medications(inhalers etc) to make sure she wont have a lot of relapse or copd excacerbations. Avoid being in public places a lot so as not to catch infection that could trigger another relapse. As we all know, our immune system weakens as we grow older.
What your mom experienced was steroid psychosis which is an untoward reaction towards steroids when used in a higher dose. Steroids is a mainstay treatment for copd or emphysema excacerbation. Next time your mom gets admitted for emphysema attack, remind her doctor that she had a prior history of steroid psychosis .
By the way, I am really glad that you are making more movies now. My fave films of you include underage, bata pa si sabel, blusang itim, koronang itim and tahan na empoy. Add Hello young lovers to that. Hope you can make a movie with Nora Aunor –another great filipino actress.

Dear Don, the problem is, she was admitted, got the steroid psychosis both at the same hospital (Makati Med)! Don’t they have a record of that in the well-organized computer system? You should see the aesthetics of that hospital! To think they claim to have lost 300M/year? If they can afford to lose that kind of money, why can’t they afford to look into the records of my mom - whether she’s reacting badly on over-dosage of steroids or not? Hay naku, I’m trying to bring my mother out today - after a bill of almost 400k!
Anyway, having a movie with Ate Guy is another dream for me - part of my “bucket-list” ika nga. She’s really a great actress, my idol even! Who knows, one of these days mag-pair-up kami? Only time (or dime?) will tell my dear. Will surely let you know through here!

Your family name now is in Japanese (obvious ba?) where in Japan nga? Been there once (or was it twice?) and I really don’t mind going there. Love the gadgets, the cleanliness, but not much on the people. Parang nakakatakot kasi sila eh - siguro na-embibed lang ako masyado sa mga films against Japanese people during WWII.
Thanks again! I’ll ask Sachi to answer your blog directly.
Always,

Hi Christina! Sorry for my late reply. 2 films simultaneous ang ginagawa ko now so I’m a bit busy - nakakapagod (you know naman that we’re not getting any younger) - mga heavy pa ang drama! I’m not sure how I could help you with that film. I’ll ask my manager if he has a spare copy (which I doubt). Philippine archiving of cinemas is not as good as the U.S. Library of Congress.

Hi Cookie! It has been a stressful and very busy few weeks for me at work as well; and it’s now dying down a little and I can’t wait to get back to “normal” working situation; now I have to catch up with my other assignment that was on hold due to this Swine flu situation; My mother is coming back to day from Manila; she got so sick that she was confined for 2 or 3 days in the Hospital due to high fever (nope, it wasn’t a Swine flu symptoms); they wanted to run more test on her heart because the doctor said it was “swollen” and they wanted to run more test; well, we dont trust some doctors back there so we decided to re-book here flight a bit early as she hoped; Mas mabuti nalang dito siya ma fully check-up kesa naman hindi accurate ang mga findings ng ibang doctors diyan. We had set an appointment date with her doctor here and had also mentioned what happened to her back home. My sisters, brothers, and I are excited to have her back. It’s been a worrisome couple of days dahil nga most of us are here; good thing my brother arrived from Singapore (My brother is a U.S. Merchant Marine) in Paranaque to take care of all her needs and check up and stay with her at the hospital.
Sorry, she did not had a chance to visit your salon as I had hoped and planned for her; but there is always a next time; perhaps her next trip back home in January next year, this time kasama na ako. It’s still busy at work but i’m hoping to get back to normalcy dahil most of the samples had already been completed.
Take care and hope your work on these films of yours are going smoothly.
Regards,
Allan

Dear Sol, my hubby and I are applying immigration visa to New Zealand because he loves it there and there seems to be an opening for a director of HR in Auckland. But it’s been too long we don’t know what’s happening. He’s already 48 so he can’t make it in Australia. I love to see Australia, but as you know, my financial capacity these days doesn’t allow me to be there. My mom just died and the bills are just piling (including her medical bills). I hope and pray to God that He will give me the blessings to be there in time. You stay safe too and my best regards to all your sisters (especially Ate Angelita). God bless you and your family!
