Overseas Employment Industry Meeting at POEA
POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment Administration), Mandaluyong City, Saturday, April 28, 2009: we failed to join the 2nd day of our Rotary Internationl District Conference today because of a call made to my hubby (being one of the members of the industry leadership) to join this important meeting, prelude to the Overseas Employment Forum that is scheduled to be held Monday (March 3, 2008) at Malacanan Palace having no less than Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as the keynote speaker.
In facing the current global economic crisis, the government called the majority of the industry association leaders in a formal (09:00 am) meeting at the POEA Administrator’s conference room, to look into the available job orders overseas that our countrymen could still fill-in. The meeting was chaired by DOLE Under-Secretary Luzviminda Padilla, co-chaired by POEA Administrator Jennifer Jardin-Manalili and OWWA Administrator Carmelita S. Dimzon. We were almost done in our meeting when we were honored with a surprised visit by DOLE Secretary, Marianito D. Roque!

Dear Carmen, my hubby’s a very private person and I would like to keep it that way. And no, he has no position at POEA since he’s not working there at all. He’s just a member of the industry leadership of licensed recruitment companies sending Filipino workers overseas - that’s all. Hope you don’t mind if I don’t mention his name.

Hi Carmen! Ang pangalang ng recruitment agency ni hubby ay Cherub Manpower Incorporated. One of the oldest recruitment companies in the Philippines - and one of the most respected. But I’m not sure if he can help your ex-Taiwan sister kasi factory doon di ba usually? Unless she wants to work as DH (baba naman sahod!) I am not sure how he can best help you. Wala naman siyang Taiwan dahil galit siya at ang mahal daw kasi ng binabayaran ng mga workers papunta doon. He is the charter president of the association of recruitment agencies sending workers to Taiwan (PILMAT), pero medio disappointed siya nang hindi na siya president kasi nga nagtaasan na ang mga singilin - ayaw niya ng ganun. As much as possible nga eh, ayaw niyang nagbabayad ang worker eh. Kaya ngayon, some of his clients (mostly in the Middle East) ay nagbabayad (kay no placement fee minsan) or salary deduction and workers sa placement fee (one-month max).

Naku Grace, unang nasagasaan ang Dubai sa Global Recession kaya I honestly do not think meron kaming opening ngayon. Pero yung isang kaibigang agency niya JERR SERVICES check nyo sa http://www.workabroad.com.ph alam ko marami silang kailang para sa UAE, hindi ko nga lang alam kung Dubai. Sorry. hi ms snooky..pls help me naman with regards sa agency,kc i’m certified caregiver want to work sa abroad but this is my first time.Sana hindi malaki ang placement fee at safe ang mga ofw..u know..dami kc bad news bout sa mga ginagawa ng employer sa employee.Hope to hear from you soon.
